The United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples was established to support the participation of indigenous peoples in the UN system, particularly in the context of their rights and issues affecting them.
Applicants are invited to participate in the 25th session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and 19th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
It will take place in ew York, USA, from 20th April to 1st May 2026. The 19th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples will take place in Geneva Switzerland, from 13 to 17 July 2026.
Purpose
- Support Participation: The fund aims to enhance the participation of indigenous representatives in UN meetings and activities, particularly in the context of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (PFII).
- Capacity Building: It helps build the capacity of indigenous organizations and communities to engage with the UN system effectively.
Funding
